The Path Beyond the Studio
-
True Yoga is Yoga practiced as a path of awareness, self-understanding, and inner transformation.
It includes āsana, breath, meditation, philosophy, self-study, and traditional Yoga wisdom, all working together to quiet the mind and reveal who we are beneath thought, habit, and conditioning.

Going beyond the studio is to study and practice Yoga as a path of awareness, self-understanding, and inner transformation.
The body is the beginning. What comes next is much more subtle and profound.
The Mission
To bridge the divide between studio practice and a transformational home practice by offering a fuller toolkit of yoga: āsana, breath, meditation, philosophy, and traditional yogic wisdom, taught in a structured, relatable way. No teacher training required.
My Journey Beyond the Studio
How my studio practice became a lifelong journey of study, meditation, and the deeper traditions of Yoga.
-
Hi, I'm Victoria, and this is my yoga story.
Around the turn of the millennium, I came to yoga the way many of us do, through yoga asana classes in Western studios. And for almost two decades, I practiced the poses, loving how they made me feel, both physically and energetically. But like many of us in the West, I didn't understand how deep yoga truly goes.
Then my body started to feel more like an obstacle than a vehicle and asana became more hurtful than helpful. I have a connective tissue disorder called Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, hEDS. It affects pretty much every part of my physical body and the older I get, the more obstacles it seems to put on my path.
But in retrospect, it's easy for me to see that my physical issues have actually been a blessing in disguise, for me anyway, because they pushed me onto a path of discovering the deeper wisdom of yoga and its practices.
To calm my nervous system, I learned to meditate, then got certified as a meditation teacher only because I wanted to learn more about the various meditation practices and that was the best way I could find.
My growing thirst for greater understanding then led me to Ishta Yoga in New York and I took more teacher trainings from world-class teachers focused on Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda. These teacher trainings revealed yoga to me as a profound living system of wisdom and self-discovery.
I never intended to become a yoga teacher either. But again, at that time, teacher trainings were really the only way I could find to learn true yoga in a systematic way, to embody the wisdom, and to develop a consistent evolving practice.
Since Ishta, I've continued to study yoga in various forms as well as Sanskrit, the language of yoga, study and recitation of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and other classical yoga texts, Veda chanting, and Jyotisa, Indian astrology.
All of these truly massive subjects offer another angle, another perspective on the singular universal truth. And as long as we're alive, the learning never stops.
Yoga has changed me in ways I never could have imagined, and the change has been so profound that I now feel a sense of responsibility to share. So when you're ready to dive deeper, I invite you to join me on this deeper journey into Yoga. I'd be honored to have you walk with me.
